New Olympus Business Solutions Website to Provide Valuable Digital Imaging Information and Applications

Melville, N.Y. - Olympus America Inc., the world leader in film and filmless photography, announced the launch of their new business solutions website, www.olympusamerica.com/business_solutions, devoted to the specific digital imaging needs and applications for vertical markets including Medical, Insurance, Law Enforcement and Real Estate. The Website is part of Olympus' long-term strategy to provide education and practical tools to business professionals to use to maximize the benefits of digital imaging.

The Business Solutions Website provides industry-specific applications, educational content, case studies and testimonials, as well as information on relevant trade shows. It will also serve as a "cyber community" for professionals who will be able to share ideas and imaging techniques, as well as communicate with Olympus. The Website complements Olympus's strategy of educating professionals in specific market segments and follows the introduction of the Health Care Digital Photography Kit and the Digital Real Estate Suite, which bundle digital equipment and software.

"Olympus is on the forefront of the digital imaging revolution, producing digital cameras and printers that are being embraced by many business and professional markets," said Brett Serxner, Marketing Manager, Vertical Markets, Olympus America. "Our Business Solutions Website goes to the next level by providing educational information that will help professionals maximize the value that digital imaging offers," he added.

Olympus has been working with professionals to find out their digital imaging needs in each major market for the last two years. "Olympus has an excellent reputation for digital still cameras and printers that are most conducive to the clinic setting. This Website will be vital for exchanging ideas and sharing concerns about digital photography among physicians," said Greg Galdino, M.D., Johns Hopkins University, Plastic Surgery Division.

"Digital technology such as mug shots and fingerprint identification is already enabling police departments to re-evaluate past crimes. It will also help the departments deal with the crimes of the future", said Daniel Rinehart, a Certified Senior Crime Scene Analyst and forensic consultant. "By facilitating the sharing of information and techniques, we see this new website positively influencing the process of law enforcement."

The following is a summary of the four vertical markets that will be the focus of this new Website at launch:

Medical Market
The major medical specialties addressed include dentistry, dermatology, plastic surgery, orthodontistry and ophthalmology/optometry. These specialties have the greatest need for digital photography for use in patient documentation (including before and after images), computer simulations of cosmetic procedures, as well as academic publication submissions, lectures and educational presentations.

Insurance Market
The segments of the insurance market that are addressed include: property/casualty insurance claims adjusters, to document property damage; appraisers, to record property valuations; auto body shops, to verify damages and repairs; and, healthcare, to serve as evidence of personal injuries. Digital imaging is critical to making the insurance market less dependent on paper records and realizing large cost and ease of use benefits that a "paperless" business process can offer.

Law Enforcement Market
This area serves local law enforcement agencies that use digital photography for crime and accident scene documentation, fire damage and arson records, as well as forensics and pathology.

Real Estate Market
The segments of the real estate market served include both residential and commercial areas. These professionals use digital photography in their marketing activities that include panoramic photography and presentations. Digital imaging enables real estate agents to easily produce and customize their own marketing materials, from simple flyers to graphic-intensive Websites.
