U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs Signs Contract with Olympus Diagnostic Systems GroupMelville, NY - The Diagnostic Systems Group of Olympus America Inc. announced that it was awarded a five-year contract for 17 Olympus AU chemistry-immuno systems for the VA Heartland Network (VISN 15). The contract provides for in-vitro diagnostics instruments, service and consumable products for nine facilities in Kansas, Missouri, southern Illinois and southern Indiana. Awarded after a public competitive bid process, the contract included input from VISN 15 members and is valued at approximately $5.5 million.
Under the agreement, which is effective immediately, Olympus will furnish its standardized, high-speed Olympus AU400TM and AU640TM chemistry-immuno systems to nine designated network laboratories. The contract was announced just one year after Olympus secured a $6.5 million contract covering the installation of 20 AU chemistry-immuno systems in 14 VISN 1 labs across New England.
"We are pleased to provide Olympus analyzers to the Department of Veterans Affairs healthcare facilities," said Stephen Wasserman, Group Vice President, Diagnostic Systems Group of Olympus America Inc. "Our goal is to be the standard of choice for high-quality, cost-effective chemistry-immuno testing for hospital and commercial laboratories. Currently, over 1 billion chemistry tests - or one out of four - are performed each year on Olympus analyzers in the U.S."
Compatible standardization between the Olympus AU chemistry-immuno systems includes identical user-interfaces, standardized results, and reference ranges. These analyzers also use the same reagents, consumables and parts for the most cost-effective operation in the healthcare market today.
An advantage of Olympus standardized AU chemistry-immuno systems is the fact that they all share the same 122-test menu featuring general and special chemistries, urine methods, TDMs, DATs, and thyroid assays. Convenient, bar-coded, ready-to-use, stable liquid reagents are manufactured at Olympus Diagnostica, an ISO 9001-registered site.
