The Newpic XB AF from Olympus
MELVILLE, NY - Olympus America, Inc. is pleased to introduce the Newpic XB AF compact camera for the Advanced Photo System format. The design features autofocus precision plus a large, easy-to-use viewfinder. Compact and lightweight, the NEWPIC XB AF is available in a silver-metallic finish.More Functions and Fun
Fun and convenience are built in to the stylish and easily portable Newpic XB AF.
Composition is simplified by an oversized, high-magnification viewfinder that creates a large and natural-looking image. Film handling is also trouble-free with the Advanced Photo System's one-touch drop-in loading system.
Focusing, film advance/rewind and flash operation are fully automatic as well. A continuous shooting capability is at hand for capturing sequences, while the versatile flash modes include red-eye reduction and night scene mode.
Main Features
Large Viewfinder
The large viewfinder's high-magnification 0.68 x image creates a bright, natural field of view that simplifies composition. Even those who wear glasses will find viewing easier.
Compact, Lightweight And Stylish
A metallic-silver finish adds an elegant touch and a high-grade feel to the Newpic XB AF's design. It also offers outstanding portability with its compact dimensions and low weight of only 5.5 ounces.
Friendly, Automatic Operation
Taking outstanding pictures is as simple as pressing the shutter release button. The camera automatically handles steps such as focusing, flash operation and film advance/rewind.
Easy One-Touch Drop-in Loading
Film loading is foolproof—just drop the film cartridge in the chamber and close the lid. The camera takes care of everything else. There is also a safety lock feature to prevent the lid from opening accidentally during shooting or rewinding.
Versatile Flash Modes
Multiple flash modes make it easy for anyone to take great flash photographs.
Auto
In low light or backlight, the flash fires automatically to ensure that the illumination is appropriate.
Red-Eye Reducing
This function reduces red eye, a common problem with flash portraits taken in low light. When the shutter button is pressed, the red-eye reducing lamp lights up before the main flash fires.
Flash Off
The flash does not fire in this mode. It is ideal for capturing the natural ambience or when flash photography is prohibited.
Fill-in
The flash fires every time in this mode. It is especially helpful in eliminating unnatural shadows on a subject.
Night Scene
The intensity of the flash is determined by the foreground, while the length of the exposure is set
according to the backdrop. Slowing the shutter speed to as long as 1/3 sec., this mode captures both the subject in the front and the background scenery.
Three frame formats
At any point on the roll, the Classic, HDTV or Panoramic frame format can be selected according to the subject and scene. This versatility makes photography even more fun.
Other Features
Continuous Shooting
This feature allows you to keep shooting picture after picture, automatically advancing the film after each shot, for as long as you hold down the shutter button. Convenient for capturing fast action, the continuous shooting function allows you to take sequences of pictures a bit faster than you can by shooting a single picture at a time. (Can not be used with flash).
Focus Lock
This convenient feature keeps the subject in sharp focus no matter how the photographer adjusts the composition.
The suggested list price of the Newpic XB AF is $90.00.
