The Superzoom 130S from Olympus
Olympus is pleased to introduce the Superzoom 130S compact camera.
This stylishly designed camera features a 38-130mm 3.4x zoom lens and excellent affordability. In addition to the black version, a starry metallic edition is also available.
With its 38-130mm high-magnification zoom lens, ultracompact body and sliding lens barrier that fuses style with functionality, the Superzoom 130S compact camera offers excellent cost performance and a full range of functions. Even with a 3.4x zoom lens, technological innovations, such as the reduction in size of the optical system of the viewfinder and utilization of an aspherical lens in a four-stage barrel, have made the 46mm-thick camera body possible. Optimum flash reflector and efficient electrical circuit have resulted in a more powerful flash system capable of providing sufficient illumination at the 130mm telephoto setting.
The high-performance, aspherical glass lens not only delivers superior resolution, but it reduces the size of the lens group, as well as slims down the zoom lens when it is retracted. The result is a compact and lightweight body that measures only 120 (W) X 65.5 (H) X 46 (D) mm and weighs 225 g (without the battery). Employing a phase-differential method, the Superzoom 130S uses the Passive Multi Autofocus system, which is ideal for cameras with a higher zooming ratio. The new model's compact body comes packed with other cutting-edge technologies, including six versatile flash modes.
High-performance 38-130mm 3.4x zoom lens
The Superzoom 130S comes equipped with a 38-130mm 3.4x zoom lens. The high-performance aspherical glass lens and hybrid aspherical lens elements ensure exceptional resolution and contribute to the compact, lightweight design.
More compact, lightweight and slimmer body
A wide array of technologies account for the compact and lightweight body of the Superzoom 130S. The aspherical lens elements are essential to the smaller and lighter lens group, while the four-stage lens barrel has slimmed down the body to 46mm. A roof prism in the viewfinder's optical system also contributes to the improved space efficiency.
In addition to the highly stylish sliding lens barrier, the new model offers two body colors: the traditional black and a new metallic color (starry metallic).
High-powered flash suited for the 130mm telephoto setting
Optimum flash reflector and efficient electrical circuit allow the delivery of sufficient flash intensity at the 130mm telephoto setting, without increased battery consumption. For natural-looking results, the Superzoom 130S also features a soft flash system.
Passive Multi AF System
The Passive Multi Autofocus system (a phase-differential method) offers the ideal AF system for a camera with a higher zooming ratio.
Versatile flash modes
Six versatile flash modes make it easy for anyone to take great flash photographs. The Superzoom 130S features a soft flash system that adjusts the intensity of the illumination automatically according to the distance from the subject.
The flash fires automatically in low light or backlighting to ensure appropriate illumination.
The red-eye effect a common problem with flash portraits is reduced by a series of pre-flashes emitted before the main flash fires.
With the flash always off in this mode, it is suited to capturing the mood of the moment or occasions where flash photography is prohibited.
The flash fires with every shot. Even when there are such complications as sidelighting or backlighting, fill-in flash produces the balanced illumination essential to a lifelike image.
This mode enables outstanding shots at night. To capture the background, the shutter speed is slowed to as long as 4 sec., while the intensity of the flash and exposure are determined by the brightness of the foreground.
Red-Eye Reducing Night Scene
This mode reduced the red-eye effect in pictures taken in the night scene mode. Except for the series of pre-flashes, it is identical to the night scene mode.
The Superzoom 130S enables users to take close-ups from as close as 60cm at the wide end and 90cm at the tele end.
This mode ensures accurate focusing and exposure of the main subject, regardless of the surrounding light conditions.
This feature keeps the subject in sharp focus while the photographer adjusts the composition.
Built-in Dioptric Correction
Dioptric correction of -2 to +1 m-1 (per meter) is built in to compensate for eyesight problems.
Optional Remote Control
The optional remote control allows the shutter to be triggered from as far as about 5 meters.
