Olympus D-400 Zoom Wins Excellence in Imaging Award
Olympus America Inc., Digital & Imaging Systems Group, the leading consumer camera manufacturer, today announced that Digital Focus/Popular Photography has awarded the Olympus D-400 Zoom the "Best Consumer Digital Camera of the Year" at their 2nd annual Excellence in Imaging Awards held at the Photo Marketing Association conference in Las Vegas.
Best Consumer Digital Camera
The Olympus D-400 Zoom continues the Olympus winning tradition with a 1.3 megapixel resolution (1280 x 960), 3X zoom lens filmless digital camera in an ergonomically designed point & shoot body. The D-400 Zoom was designed as a camera first and foremost, with camera styling and features, such as a four mode pop-up intelligent flash, through-the-lens auto focus and 3x optical zoom (35-105mm lens system), auto white balance with 5-step manual override, center weighted and spot metering systems for auto exposure with +/-2 step manual EV control in ½-step increments. Secondarily, this camera is designed to be a "digital" device with many high-tech features, including 2x Digital Telephoto at any focal length, floppy disk compatibility to computer systems, and reusable SmartMedia cards. Thirdly, it is a consumer electronics device, with video connectivity to popular consumer products and direct printing to the Olympus Personal Photo Printer without the need of a computer.
"We think Olympus' D-400 Zoom is a big step toward bridging the gap between digital cameras and traditional point-and-shoot film cameras," said Chris O'Malley, editor of DigitalFocus. "As our Consumer Camera of the year, we think it best embodies today's digital point-and-shoot and points the way toward the future."
