Olympus Redesigns the Pearlcorder S720 Series

Melville, NY - Olympus America Inc., the inventor of the Microcassette format, has introduced a re-design of the popular S720 Microcassette recorder series, which offers consumers high-end features at extremely affordable prices.

"The new series of Microcassette recorders has been re-designed with a modern look and feel. The recorders are more ergonomically designed and add key features, while keeping the same low price as the current line of recorders. The S721, S723 and S725 recorders are particularly outstanding, because these products offer consumers excellent performance and extremely high-quality sound for the price. In comparison to other recorders with similar features, they are the only ones in this price range with auto reverse," said Ian Igari, product manager—Communications Products, Digital & Imaging Systems Group, Olympus America Inc.

The S721, S723 and S725 Microcassette models are the latest entries in a series of elegantly styled pocket-sized recorders from Olympus.

All three models offer Auto Reverse. This convenient feature automatically reverses the tape at the end of each side during recording or playback. This feature permits uninterrupted recording and playback for long periods, such as for meetings or classes. High-speed playback is a feature that allows for review of recorded material at a 25% faster rate, saving time and increasing productivity.

Each model contains all the basic Microcassette features such as play, record, fast forward, rewind, pause, review/cue, built-in speaker, dual tape speeds, microphone sensitivity control, and an earphone jack.

Additional high-end features such as voice activation, fast playback, eject button, tape counter, microphone jack, power jack and remote jack, LED indicator and auto-off provide extra benefits for more sophisticated requirements of users.

All three models feature a Variable Controlled Voice Activation (VCVA), which records subject matter at a user-controlled level. The VCVA effectively "filters" out unwanted background noise resulting in more clear, concise and accurate recorded material, and increased battery life.

A high-speed playback function featured on all three models allows for review of recorded material at a 25% faster rate than normal, saving time and increasing productivity. Another convenient feature is an LED light, which indicates when the battery level is low.

The tape counter featured on the S725 provides a visual marker during note taking and a benchmark for easy location of recorded materials.

A power jack found on the S723 and S725 models provides access to external power sources, while a microphone jack and remote jack on the S725 allows for added flexibility, ease of recording and private reviewing of recorded material. The S723 comes complete with an included AC adapter/recharger and two rechargeable batteries for more economical operation.

The Auto-Off function extends battery life by automatically switching power off at the end of the tape. This audible "click" also signals the user that the end of the tape has been reached.

The S721, S723 and S725 feature a distinct, lightweight (5.9 oz. with two AA batteries) and an ergonomic profile which is only 4.7(H) x 2.3(W) x 1(D) inches.

The suggested list price for the S721 is $59.95; the S725 is $79.95 The S723 includes a rechargeable AC adapter and rechargeable batteries, and will retail at $99.95.

Olympus invented the Microcassette format in 1969 and has been a pioneer in voice processing technology ever since.
