Olympus announces Two New Digital Voice RecordersMelville, NY - Olympus America Inc., Consumer Products Group, a leading consumer electronics manufacturer, announced at PC Expo the release of the VN90 and VN180 Digital Voice Recorders. The VN-series recorders are the 2nd generation of Olympus digital voice recorders. These recorders weigh less than three ounces and are ergonomically designed to fit snugly inside the palm of the hand. The VN90 stores 90 minutes of voice recordings for the retail price of $79.99, and the VN180 stores 3 hours of voice recordings for the retail price of $99.99.
With their long talk time, the VN-series recorders are ideal for recording meetings, school lectures or study groups, as well as short memos, ideas, phone numbers, shopping lists, and other notes. Since the VN-series is so small (4 ½" x 1 ½" x ½") and lightweight, it can be taken virtually anywhere.
"We are very excited about the release of these new digital voice recorders," said Keith Swiderski, Product Manager - Voice Recorders, Consumer Products Group, Olympus America Inc. "The VN90 and VN180 Digital Voice Recorders are loaded with features that consumers have come to expect from Olympus recording equipment. They are small, ergonomic and geared for the professional user. Considering their price position and recording capacity, the VN90 and VN180 will give consumers excellent performance and high-quality sound for the price."
Recordings can be stored in two separate folders, with each folder capable of storing 100 messages. The first folder can be used as the main "scratch" folder. The second folder can be used for moving and saving important messages. A third folder is used as a scheduling tool, where the day's meetings can be stored for easy on-the-go retrieval.
Any recording can be programmed to play automatically at any time, creating up to 20 alarms. This feature can be used as a reminder of important meetings, dates, or as a wake-up call. The user presses the button when hearing the alarm beep and hears the pre-recorded reminder.
The VN90 has 2 recording modes, SP mode (with 33 minutes available recording time) when a very high-quality digital recording is needed; and LP mode (with 90 minutes available recording time) when a long recording time is needed.
The VN180 has 2 recording modes, SP mode (with 66 minutes available recording time) when a very high-quality digital recording is needed; and LP mode (with 180 minutes available recording time) when a long recording time is needed.
An LCD display is provided to check remaining recording time, the date & time, voice activation mode, play mode (SP/LP), and battery status. The VN-series have a Microphone Sensitivity Selector, voice activation for hands-free recording and powerful editing capabilities such as insert, delete and partial erase.
