Olympus Fellows

The Olympus Fellows Program is our full-time, benefits-eligible Rotational Development program that allows you to gain hands-on experience in three different roles. The rotations are project-oriented with both individual and team assignments providing high visibility and professional development opportunities.

  • Cumulative GPA of 3.25 or higher
  • Demonstrated leadership skills
  • Proven academic excellence and a passion for continued learning

Do I qualify for the Fellows Program?

To qualify for the Fellows program, candidates must:

  • Be completing a bachelor's or master's degree at an accredited college or university
  • Graduate within the current academic year – December 2018-May 2019
  • Maintain a minimum 3.25 cumulative GPA
  • Demonstrate academic excellence and leadership experience

What degrees or majors do Fellows usually have?

We accept all majors. Graduate and current Fellows have a range of majors, including marketing, business administration, biomedical engineering, mechanical engineering, psychology, biochemistry, international relations, supply chain management and information systems, finance, economics, kinesiology and more.

Should I include a cover letter/transcript/writing sample/references/other when I send in my resume?

Just a cover letter! We encourage you to use your cover letter to provide us with insight into your interest in and qualifications for the Fellows program. Beyond that, you should not submit any other supporting documents. Depending on a candidate's qualifications, additional documents such as a writing sample and transcript may be requested of those applicants who advance further in the interview process.

What can I expect from the recruiting and interview process?

Qualified candidates will experience a selective interview process, including:

  • An initial screening interview (varies between phone or in-person)
  • An on-site panel interview, where you will meet with multiple Olympus employees
  • An on-site presentation (specific guidelines provided ahead of the presentation so you can prepare)

What is the application deadline?

We encourage students to apply as early in the academic year as possible. First round interviews generally begin in October, and the hiring concludes once all Fellows positions are filled. Once the next class of Fellows has been identified, the position will be removed from our job posting website until the beginning of the next academic year.

Do Fellows travel often?

The amount of travel a Fellow can expect will depend on each rotational assignment. For example, a Fellow in a Marketing or Sales rotation may have the opportunity to travel to trade shows or conferences, or shadow physicians who use Olympus products. Overall, Fellows can expect to spend the majority of their time at their home offices.

Where are Fellows positions located?

Most Fellows are located in either Center Valley, PA or Southborough, MA. Fellows have taken rotational assignments outside of their home offices, working in locations such as Miami, FL and Brooklyn Park, MN. See the job description for your primary work location.

When do Fellows start each year?

Typically, each class of Fellows will begin around the second full week of June, starting with a week-long "Orientation Boot Camp." Orientation provides new Fellows the opportunity to meet other members of their class, connect with their mentors and gain an in-depth understanding of Olympus operations, values and corporate culture. During orientation, Fellows participate in training sessions, social activities and volunteering opportunities together.

Does Olympus provide Tuition Reimbursement for individuals to pursue graduate degrees?

Yes! Continuing education is encouraged and valued at Olympus, and we do have a tuition reimbursement program available to all full time employees.

How do Fellows enter their job placements after the final rotation?

At the successful conclusion of the two-year program the Fellows can continue their careers at Olympus by placement into a full-time role. Placement varies by individual. Fellows sometimes take roles within one of their rotational departments, or can apply for any open position as directed by executive management and the Fellow's interest and career aspirations.

Within the Olympus Fellows Program, Fellows experience both formal and on-the-job training necessary to successfully navigate three rotations within two years. Beyond the Fellows program, employees are always encouraged to continue training and growth. Olympus offers opportunities such as in-house training programs and professional development sessions, networking and development opportunities through our Colleague Affinity Networks (CANs), and tuition reimbursement for continuing education.

It is a way for Olympus to build a database of qualified, interested individuals for a particular job function so that when there is a need to fill that type of role, the hiring process will be faster.
