Question:
How do I print dates on my photos?

Answer: This is a very common question. Fortunately, there are multiple ways to to print the date on your photos.

Printing from home.

The easiest way is to use a PictBridge™-compatible printer and camera. This method doesn’t even require a computer. Most Olympus cameras are PictBridge compatible, so chances are this technique will work for you. If you have a PictBridge-compatible printer, you can plug your camera directly into your printer and print from there. With the Easy Print option, it can be as simple as displaying the image you want on the camera’s LCD screen and then connecting the camera to the printer with the camera’s USB cable.

Custom print: Once you’ve plugged your camera into your printer, select Custom Print on the camera’s LCD screen. The Custom Print feature lets you automatically date, or timestamp, your prints.

Use Olympus Master 2. If you don’t have a PictBridge-compatible printer or want to sort or edit your photos before timestamping them, the new Olympus Master 2 has a built-in function for printing the date on your photos.
Simply select the photo you’d like to print and click on “print menu” in the toolbar. Select “Photo Print” or “Index Print” on the printing options screen. Then click the checkbox in the lower right corner to print the date, or date and time.

This feature requires Olympus Master 2.02 or higher. If you do not have Olympus Master 2.02 or higher, see these instructions on how to update your software.

To timestamp photos in store or online, make a print reservation.
A print reservation allows you to pre-select the data needed for your print job and save it on your memory card. This data includes the number of copies, date (or timestamp), paper size, image title text, image orientation, contact information and more. With print reservation, you can print pictures at home or at a photo store using any printer that supports Digital Print Order Format (DPOF). Not all stores support this feature, so you may want to call or email your favorite photo developing store to find out if they support print reservations. For more information about setting print reservations, click here.

* DPOF is an industry standard format used to record automatic print information from digital cameras. On some Olympus cameras, an xD-Picture Card is required to make DPOF print reservations.
