Nasal Packing

Overview

Through a distribution agreement with Hemostasis, LLC, Olympus has added several dissolvable sinus dressings and topical hemostats to its already extensive ENT offering. Both the chitosan based polymer products (PosiSep, PosiSep X) and the plant based polysaccharide dressings and splints (NexPak, NexFoam, NexStat) provide hemostasis, occupy space in the nasal cavity, and eliminate the need for painful packing removal.

PosiSep and PosiSepX

PosiSep and PosiSepX are dissolvable intranasal splints made of chitosan, an amino polysaccharide derivative of chitin which is made from the exoskeletons of crustaceans.

PosiSep transforms from a sponge to a gel when moistened.

PosiSepX expands to occupy space within the nasal cavity when moistened.

NexStat and NexFoam

NexStat Topical Hemostat Powder and NexFoam Topical Hemostat Sponge are easy to use plant based products proven efficacious to speed clotting. Both products are indicated for the treatment of mild bleeding from topical ENT surgical wounds and nose bleeds.

NexPak

NexPak is also made from the same plant based polysaccharide as NexStat and NexFoam, but NexPak is indicated as an intranasal splint intended to prevent adhesions in the nasal cavity after surgery or trauma while minimizing bleeding and edema.
