Welcome to a new era in scientific imaging. The ORCA-Flash 2.8 takes CMOS technology to a new level by realizing high resolution, high readout speed, and low noise all at once. This camera provides 2.8 MP resolution at 45 full frames per second while achieving just 3 electrons R.M.S. Moreover, it delivers high sensitivity through its on-chip micro lens, 4500:1 high dynamic range, on-chip analog gain and various correction features that make the camera suitable for almost any scientific application from brightfield imaging to low-light fluorescence imaging across a wide spectral range.

HAMAMATSU ORCA-FLASH 2.8 SCIENTIFIC CMOS CAMERA OVERVIEW

The ORCA-Flash2.8 is the new scientific digital camera for life science microscopy. Based on the new FL-280 CMOS sensor, the camera delivers the following features and benefits:

  • High speed - 45 full frames/second, up to 1273 fps with subarray
  • High resolution - 2.8 megapixel, 3.4 mm pixel size (twice the resolution and wider field of view compared with conventional CCD technology)
  • High sensitivity - dynamic range of 4500:1, on chip microlens
  • Low noise - 3 electrons r.m.s. (better than conventional cooled CCD technology)
  • Excellent linearity between incoming photons and digital output
  • Analog gain for improving signal to noise at low light levels
