Hamamatsu offers a variety of EM cameras for applications requiring both fast frame rates and high sensitivity. These cameras are ideal for the real time imaging of low light levels and ultra low light level detection required in optical sectioning of live cells or single molecule detection.

HAMAMATSU ELECTRON MULTIPLICATION CCD CAMERAS OVERVIEW

Hamamatsu offers three different EM-CCDs to suit a range of resolutions, speeds, and budgets.

ImagEM – High dynamic range and High speed

This EM-CCD is the ideal format for short exposures, fast frame rates, and high dynamic range. It features:

  • Back-thinned 512 x 512 frame transfer CCD with greater than 90% QE
  • 16 µm pixels with large full well capacity
  • 31.9 full frames per second, 417 fps with binning and subarray
  • Optimized EM-CCD readout and stabilized dual mode cooling, up to -90°C

Ideal for applications that require:

  • Short exposures and fast frame rates, e.g. spinning disk confocal imaging
  • Large dynamic range with both normal and EM readout modes, e.g. wide range of fluorescence intensities
  • Highly stablizied gain and minimal dark noise, e.g. quantitative imaging

ImagEM-1K – High resolution and High Sensitivity

This EM-CCD has high QE and high resolution for high speed, low light level applications requiring a larger field of view. It features:

  • Back-thinned 1024 x 1024 frame transfer CCD with greater than 90% QE
  • 13 µm pixels and 11 MHz readout yielding 9.5 full frames per second
  • Optimized EM-CCD readout and stabilized dual mode cooling, up to -80°C

Ideal for applications that require:

  • Short exposure times and high resolution
  • High NA objectives and fast readout
  • Highly stabilized gain and minimal dark noise

C9100-02 – High resolution

This front illuminated format offers high resolution and EM sensitivity at a more affordable price. It features:

  • High EM gain factor (2000X)
  • 1000 x 1000 format with 8 µm pixels and 30 fps readout
  • -50°C air cooling stabilized up to 40°C ambient

Ideal for applications that require:

  • Low signal detection
  • High resolution matched to high NA objectives
  • Consistent data regardless of ambient temperature
