When Stephanie Fabrizio went swimming one morning as she usually does, she noticed something wrong. Her arm had become heavy and her stroke had become more and more difficult. But it wasn’t until she woke up the next morning, that she got scared. Her arm had turned purple and heavy.
She headed to the E.R. where the doctors couldn’t immediately figure out what was wrong. Soon thereafter she learned she had two blood clots in her subclavian veins and would need surgery. It was scary. She didn’t know if she would ever swim again.
During her consultation, the surgeon explained to Stephanie the process and approach. He made a point to say that he’d be using Olympus laparoscopy equipment. This gave her confidence when she headed to the hospital for surgery.
The surgery went well and Stephanie’s back in the pool. She will never forget the doctor saying to her, “Get back to your life. Do what you love to do. Get back to swimming. Things are going to work out.”
