Eligibility Details
Grant recipients must be 501(c)(3) (or similarly designated) not-for-profit organizations. The Grants Committee focuses on educational or patient-benefitting activities organized by independent third parties with a genuine medical education function relating to disease states, conditions and/or treatments for which Olympus products are used. The Committee assesses all requests pursuant to Olympus’ Compliance Code and does not make decisions based upon past, present or future opportunities to generate business or goodwill from requestors.
The Committee is currently accepting applications for financial and short-term in-kind product loan support for the following programs in North America.

The Committee
currently supports:
- Accredited and non-accredited medical educational conferences, symposia and workshops open and advertised to qualified health care professionals from multiple institutions
- Community health fair events that provide education or medical procedures at no-cost to eligible patient populations
- Clinical fellowships coordinated by medical societies. Current priority areas include advanced endoscopy, interventional urology and interventional pulmonology
- Capital campaigns benefitting training and educational facilities operated exclusively by medical societies
The Committee does not
currently support:
- Non-clinical fellowships
- Clinical fellowships coordinated by universities, medical schools and/or teaching hospitals
- Requests directly benefitting individual health care professionals, or requests designed to solely benefit health care professionals from a single institution, including institution-specific fellowships
- Funds for travel, lodging, honoraria or meal expenses for any healthcare professional
- Requests to underwrite course expenses for individual health care professionals

Commitment to Independent Decision-Making
The Committee does not make decisions based on the desire to generate goodwill from grant requestors or to reward past or future purchases, referrals or recommendations of Olympus products or services
All Olympus sales and marketing personnel receive specific training advising them to remain separate and apart from matters relating to grant requests. With the exception of limited circumstances when they might be asked to solicit input regarding a product-related grant request, Olympus personnel may not:
- Initiate or promote grant requests on behalf of a health care professional
- Assist a health care professional in applying for a grant
- Create any expectations or convey information of any kind regarding grant approvals or denials

Commitment to Transparency
Olympus adheres to state and federal laws requiring life science companies to track and report certain expenses related to interactions with health care professionals. Data pertaining to financial and product support will be reported and published in accordance with the provisions of the Physician Sunshine Payment Act and similar legislation.

November 20th, 2023
Program Resumption in Latin America
Starting November 20th, 2023, Olympus will resume receiving new requests for Grant support in Latin America.
This includes both financial and product requests (product support only available in Mexico, Brazil and Puerto Rico).
Please note that our standard 60-day rule applies. Therefore, the first eligible program date would be January 19th, 2024.

Program Pause in Latin America
Due to high program volume, Olympus will not accept new requests for Grant support in Latin America between August 1st, 2023- November 20th , 2023.
This includes both financial and product requests.
We anticipate resuming review of requests after November 20th, 2023. We encourage interested parties to monitor this section of our website for any updates.
Please note that our standard 60-day rule applies. When we resume review of new requests, it will be for programs with dates after January 19th, 2024. If you have any questions, please contact grants-americas@olympus.com.

Microscopy Education Update
Evident Corporation announced in April 2023 that it has been acquired by private equity firm Bain Capital Private Equity from Olympus Corporation pursuant to the definitive agreement signed on August 29, 2022.
As a result of this, the Olympus Grants Committee is no longer considering requests for microscopy education programs. This includes financial and product-loan requests.

Microscopy Education Update
Olympus Corporation recently announced the completion of the separation of its Scientific Solutions business to a wholly-owned subsidiary, Evident Corporation. As a newly-established wholly-owned subsidiary, Evident continues to operate independently under the Olympus umbrella.
Evident microscopy is not currently accepting grant requests, but is working to establish a program.

Olympus Corporation of the Americas (OCA) has restored the requirement that educational programs must be open and advertised to qualified health care professionals from multiple institutions.
Given that North American vaccination rates are increasing and limitations on the size of gatherings are being removed, the Grants program is returning to its standard eligibility requirements.

COVID- 19 Update - Product Support Update
Olympus Corporation of the Americas (OCA) continues to work through the implications of the COVID-19 crisis on our support for grant activities.
Starting October 1, 2020, the OCA Grants Committee will resume receiving new requests for product support that meet the following criteria:
- Live cases or procedure demonstrations executed with limited (≤4) individuals present (including any Olympus personnel) AND content is streamed or recorded for defined educational use, OR
- Product support for educational programs that do not require Olympus personnel support during sessions.
Given the limitations on size of gatherings, we are temporarily removing the requirement that programs be open and advertised to qualified health care professionals from multiple institutions.
We continue to be open to new requests for financial support. Please note our 60-day advanced application requirement. Therefore, the first eligible program date for product requests is expected to be November 30. Programs must be planned in accordance with CDC and local COVID-19 guidelines.
We ask for your patience regarding possible delays in the processing of new grant requests as we resume grant activity.

Registration / Application
The online registration process and application must be completed properly and submitted at least 60 days prior to the start date of the event for which support is requested utilizing our Grants Management System.
Please note: We cannot review incomplete applications. A member of the Olympus Grants Team may contact you with questions or if any information is missing. We request a prompt response so that we are able to continue with the review process in a timely manner.
